Proposition 10 has created an opportunity to bring about a future where all Ventura County children will thrive in healthy supported environments. As Chair of First 5 Ventura County, I am excited about the possibilities and committed to ensuring that funds are used to make a dramatic difference in the lives of young children. With the overarching goal of School Readiness, supports and services are being designed and implemented which will help make certain that children enter school physically, emotionally, and academically ready to learn.

Bringing about this reality will take all of us working together, sharing our gifts and talents. I would encourage each of you to become involved in your local Neighborhood for Learning. Through these partnerships of parents, schools, and service providers, communities have the opportunity to design supports and services for children and families that meet their unique needs. With communities committed to providing an environment that supports children and families, and wise use of our Proposition 10 funds, we can truly build a future where every child enters school with the tools to be successful.
